Classic Rome: Purple Square Collage - Framed
Acrylic on Paper 8" x 8" x 0 $40.00 USD Sold
Classic Rome
Roman artists, like other ancients, endorsed the basics: black, white, reds & browns. They associated blue with barbarianism, but valued purple as imperial and royal. Roman Empire sumptuary laws created a visual purple hierarchy: the amount of Tyrian purple (from shellfish) that one wore reflected one's status.
"Purple Square Collage" (acrylic, collage, 8x8) celebrates purple and its variations.
